David Schneider, address as above (§ 18 Abs. 2 MStV).
The EU Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
These terms govern use of the MKV Player software and of any commercial license granted by David Schneider (“we”, “us”) via matroska.davidschneider.xyz.
There is currently no online checkout or payment on this site. Licensing enquiries are handled by email at licensing@davidschneider.xyz. If a paid checkout is offered in the future, the applicable purchase, payment, and delivery terms will be presented at that time.
Where a commercial license is granted by written agreement, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it as described in that agreement. License keys (once issued) must not be shared, resold, or used on instances other than the one they were issued for.
The underlying software is available under open-source licenses (the EBML parser core under MIT; the player and remuxer under AGPL-3.0). A commercial license covers uses those licenses do not permit. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the applicable open-source licenses.
You are responsible for the content you play. The software runs in the viewer’s browser and we neither host nor process your media. Do not use the software to infringe third-party rights or applicable law.
The software is provided “as is”. Because keys validate offline, continued use does not depend on our servers. Statutory warranty rights for consumers remain unaffected.
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and under mandatory law (including the Product Liability Act and for injury to life, body, or health). For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation, limited to foreseeable, typical damage. Any further liability is excluded.
We may update these terms; the version in force at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase.
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.

Some processors are based outside the EU/EEA (e.g. the US). Transfers are safeguarded by adequacy decisions or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
License records are kept in KV for up to 90 days. Any invoice and tax records are retained for the statutory period.
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and to object. You may withdraw consent at any time and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Germany, the data-protection authority of your state). To exercise your rights, email licensing@davidschneider.xyz.
We use no advertising or analytics cookies. The only client-side storage is the localStorage entry described above.
If you’re not happy with your purchase, contact us within 30 days of the order and we’ll refund it in full — no questions asked. Email licensing@davidschneider.xyz from your order email address (or include your Paddle receipt).
Refunds are issued by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, back to your original payment method. Once a purchase is refunded, the associated license is void and must no longer be used.
You can cancel an annual Business subscription at any time to stop future renewals. The 30-day guarantee applies to the initial purchase of each term.
For consumers in the EU, your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital purchases remains unaffected and is honored in addition to this guarantee.
